Built ins are having a big moment at the minute. Whether it’s the dressing room with the built in wardrobes, a media wall, a kitchen larder or even an under the stairs library. Built ins are going nowhere. With the popularity of colour drenching to blend seamlessly into the design of the room, they are growing in popularity and giving the vibe of always being part of the decor.
Built in Wardrobes

Built in wardrobes and dressing rooms are becoming almost standard in homes at the moment. If we don’t have them, we’re inspiring to get them or how to make them work in our current homes. Built in wardrobes with ‘a place for everything’ is every organised persons dream. However, these days thanks to a certain Swedish furniture store they are becoming more and more affordable. With a huge selection of base units available & higher quality paints, it is much easier to achieve this expensive look for less.
Larder

The kitchen larder is making a come back. We probably all have memories of our grandmothers old fashioned pull down version of the 80s & 90s (even they are gaining popularity!), but we are quickly learning this having this one larger dry food store is actually a much easier thing to navigate them those pesky corner cupboards where we have to half climb in to find anything. Added draws to the bottom makes finding items so much easier. The doors are often designed to match in with the rest of the kitchen for seamless, modern look. It is definitely on my list to add to our kitchen once we upgrade it.
Drinks Unit

Whether it’s herbal teas, hot coffees or Friday night cocktail, drinks cabinets are back with a bang. But, again, built in to the kitchen cabinets for that seamless, elegant style. I adore the above example of the doors that fold back into the unit. The two colours, and chose of cabinet doors gives this particular example a very interesting look. As big coffee drinkers this is another must for our kitchen!
DIY Library

The ultimate goal. A proper library to house all of my treasured books. But alas, I will settle for a bespoke unit like the above. Somewhere we can have low lighting added and all our books displayed in an interesting way. The added benefit of extra storage underneath is also a good idea. This is high on my list of priorities when we finish the sitting room, if nothing more to keep the little man from pulling all the books off the shelves every evening!
Media Wall

I truly love the above example. If we had this type of layout I think I would good with this style. However, we have double doors to one side, a fireplace and then a vast recessed space on the other side. This recessed space is where our media wall will go but at the moment we are trying to decide what design to go with. We have the TV mounted there, would like a tidy fuel store for the fire and descent storage that will match in with the proposed mini library. Not a tall order at all!
